The requirement - automate the sales of fire safety equipment
Fire Safety Services (FSS) provides turnout gear (also called bunker gear) which refers to the personal protective equipment (PPE) used by firefighters. This generally includes the trousers, boots, jacket, gloves and fire helmets worn by the firefighters. The name bunker gear derives from the fact that the trousers and boots used to be kept next to the firefighter's bunk bed at the fire station so that they can be quickly grabbed . The name turnout gear derives from the time-saving practice of "turning out" the trouser pants over the top of the boots so that they are ready to be jumped into. Fire Safety Services stock the latest innovative personal protective equipment to ensure that fire fighters are protected from head-to-toe.
Apart from turnout gear, FSS also stock fire hoses as well as the nozzles, fittings and valves for those fire hoses. FSS also provide self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) equipment which provide breathable air to firefighters when they enter life-threatening smoke- or fire-filled environments, as well as air-purifying respirators and masks for hazardous but less-deadly environments.
All of these items on offer resulted in a FSS product catalogue that runs to thousands of products. FSS required a sales solution that would allow them to load all of these products and make them visible on a mobile device, ready for viewing and ordering. FSS also required a tool to amend product and customer information easily and instantly resulting in the sales reps always having the latest information when visiting their clients.
The solution - a sales app to generate quotes and capure orders
Using the Onsight app, FSS's sales reps are able to go out to visit fire stations and industrial clients and to generate sales quotes as well as sales orders for equipment and gear. The app works even when offline. The sales reps are able to provide instant pricing for the needed equipment since the pricing is stored locally on the device. Orders and quotes are automatically sent back to the office and the fire station even gets a copy in their mailbox. Shawn Spath, President of Fire Safety Services offers his assessment of how Onsight has improved the way that the company does business by saying that "The organization of the catalogues and price books of the over 60 manufacturers that we represent into one central quoting and ordering system is the largest benefit to our team."
